Why might you want to have a private consultation?
The NHS is wonderful but you have the choice when you have any sort of medical problem and you might feel that, rather than go through the NHS, you would actually like to pay for the opinion of a doctor who specialises in that sort of problem directly.
There are many reasons why you might choose to do this. It could be that you want to have help quickly – or to have a more comprehensive answer. It may be that you want to keep a problem private – even from your friends and family – or that you have been through the NHS system and would like a second opinion. Whatever area of mental health is troubling you or someone close to you, we have a top specialist who can give you advice and treatment. You can either just book your consultation here, or, if you would like a bit more information, you are welcome to fill in our initial enquiry form and someone will give you a call to talk it through further, or ring us on 033 0124 1980 during office hours.
Private doesn’t always mean expensive
If you are lucky, you have the sort of job or the sort of money that pays for private medical insurance – but, for most of us, that isn’t the case. Consequently, it is the cost of a private consultation that puts most people off. However, getting a diagnostic opinion from one of the consultant psychiatrists who are part of Psychiatry-UK LLP is different. It is far more easily than having a consultation with, say, a private consultant gynaecologist or a thoracic surgeon – or any face to face consultation. A consultant psychiatrist does not have to perform a physical examination in the same way – and, therefore it is possible to have the consultation on the Internet – or even over the telephone – and within just a few days rather than a couple of weeks or months – and far more cheaply than seeing a private psychiatrist in any other setting.
A standard initial assessment costs £300.00 inclusive of one hour with the psychiatrist, with an opinion, recommendations, and an agreed treatment plan, set out in a letter or report, which will be discussed with you at the end of your consultation. Additional fees will be incurred if we prescribe medication. Please see our fees for further information.
Don’t suffer in Denial
With psychiatric problems it is very common for the person who actually has the problem to be in denial. Although a quarter of us suffer from recognisable and diagnosable mental disorders in our lifetime, two thirds of us who do then do nothing about it – either from fear of the stigma of mental illness or from a refusal to recognise or acknowledge the problem. If you have someone close to you, a friend or family member who you feel falls into this category, perhaps you could have a short meeting yourself for advice on how best to deal with the situation. We may also be able to give you pointers on how to persuade the person for whom you are concerned about on facing their problems and letting us deal with them. You can take a 30 minute advice session for £100. You can choose the psychiatrist you want to talk to and book your advice session here, fill in our initial enquiry form and someone will give you a call to talk it through further, or ring us on 033 0124 1980 during office hours.
We only use top qualified specialist Psychiatrists
As you can see from their profiles, the partners at Psychiatry-UK LLP are all doctors. Their specialities cover the full range of mental disorders, from postnatal depression to dementia. Furthermore, as doctors, they all take their responsibilities with regard to confidentiality particularly seriously. You can talk to a doctor about anything and remain absolutely secure in the knowledge that, as long as you’re not intending to do something serious like harm yourself or others, so your life or someone else is in danger, it will remain confidential. It is also extremely convenient – you can choose the time of the appointment and the consultant you want to talk to as well as have the consultation from the privacy of your own home.
