Dr Rawala completed his psychiatry training at the Maudsley and Institute of Psychiatry, one of the most respected psychiatry training institute in the World.  He has an active interest in research and medical education having published in peer reviewed journals and authoring training modules in psychiatry.

He has special training in ‘Quality Improvement in Mental Health’ and has been awarded the first prize for his project in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. During his training he also acted as the European editor of US based Global Medical Education.

His main clinical interests are:

  • Impact of physical ill health on mental health and vice versa
  • Postnatal depression
  • Antenatal and postnatal mental illnesses
  • Depression
  • Bipolar affective disorder
  • Psychotic illnesses including schizophrenia
  • Anxiety, OCD and stress related disorders
  • Medically Unexplained symptoms.

Dr Rawala is also able to communicate in Urdu, Gujrati and Hindi. He has a Masters in Transcultural Mental Health and fully appreciative of an individual and family’s cultural beliefs impacting on their well being. He has a Cert in Psychopharmacology and is well experienced in use of psychotropic medications including novel combinations based on latest medical evidence.
